Throughout RebateWeb, some conventions have been followed to help make it obvious what you can do.
Anything that looks like text on a page, on a plain background, is just that - text. It cannot be modified on that page.
If there is a rectangle shown on the page which contains black text, this represents data from the database and, since the text is black, the contents of the field can be changed on this page by typing in your desired value. There may be edits that prevent you from entering certain kinds of data, however, such as an edit stating that a zip code must be numeric.
If there is a rectangle with an arrow (actually a triangle) pointing downwards to the right of the field, then this means that there is data in this field and you can change the data, but you must choose from a pre-existing set of values.
If there is a rectangle, with or without accompanying arrow, that contains gray text, this indicates that this field contains data, but that this data cannot be changed on this page. Sometimes there is another page where this data can be changed, but it may or may not be one you can access. Sometimes the data cannot be changed because of the values of other pieces of data.
If certain data must be present in order to save the contents of a page, there will be a red asterisk to the right of the field containing that data. (The meaning of the asterisk will also be explained on the page itself.)
Oval shapes with a raised appearance are buttons. These can be clicked on (with the left mouse button) in order to perform the action indicated by the button's name. These are mostly pretty straightforward actions, such as Add something or Edit something or the like.
A button called Submit is what you click on when you want to save any changes you have made on a page.
Errors detected on a page will be displayed in red at the top of the page.
